Today we will be releasing VDT 1.3.10b. The changes are:
- Condor was upgraded to Condor 6.7.18 for a security fix.
Globus-Updates package was added.
- During installation, the gridftp.log file is created, so
monitoring system aren't confused by a non-existent file.
- vdt-change-user was fixed to set secondary group memberships
VDT-Client package now includes
Globus-WS-Client (the Globus web service client tools).
The Globus-Updates package is a new GridFTP server that should fix a
bug some users have been experiencing with group permissions, as well
as a bug with globus-url-copy creating multiple directories with the

of the same Globus-Updates that is in VDT 1.3.10b.
Jobmanagers hanging on
Rob Quick reported that he had a bunch of job managers processes (all
fork?) that didn't exist after the job exited. He had a bunch last
week and this week, but none on the weekend, even though these were
MIS jobs that should have been running on the weekedn. He'll monitor
the problem, and if it continues he might ask for help.
How jobmanagers start
Wayne asked how jobmanager start. The gatekeeper is started as root
via xinetd. After authentication and authorization, it starts up the
jobmanager as the user (not root) that was provided during the
