CEmon has been updated significantly in VDT 1.3.11. Although 1.3.11 is not ready for release, it should be fine to test out CEMon. It now works with the Generic Information Provider.
We still can't build the clients, which means we cannot test it except on platforms where the gLite binaries work. Instead of making it unavailable on platforms (like Fedora Core 4) where the clients don't work, we simply install the server (which is Java-based) and skip the testing. We are still working on a better solution for this in the future
Tanya has asked for a change to the CEMon configuration to allow the server to publish ClassAds. The VDT team will make this change soon.
The main goal for VDT 1.3.11 is a new release of VOMS for VO Administrators. We hope to freeze VDT 1.3.11 in roughly one week, with a release a week after that.
A couple other features in VDT 1.3.11 of note: edg-crl-upgrade is now fetch-crl. The underlying code is the same, but instead of being a daemon, it is a cron job. Also, edg-mkgridmap is now a cron job instead of a daemon. Both of these components were updated to get newer versions that have had significant bug fixes in them.
Rob asked about a few GOC tickets:
Due to the MDS 2 problems CMS has been having, the VDT team tried to update to a newer, unsupported version of MDS 2. The update has not gone smoothly and we continue to have problems. CMS is going to use the BDII to workaround the MDS problems, just like LCG has done. They will try it out. If it works well, they will tell the VDT team what they have done, and the BDII will likely make it into a future VDT release.
