The latest developers series for the VDT has been released this week. More information about some of the major changes in this version can be found here. The VDT team requests that brave users try out this release on non-production sites to determine whether the new startup and stop scripts for a VDT installation are useful and pratical.
It should be noted that the names of these scripts will likely
change in VDT 1.5.2 to
It was discussed that the features the VDT team is able to complete in the next four weeks will be in OSG 0.60. This has also be mentioned at previous office hours.
Alain Roy added TclGlobus 1.5.0 in the latest release of the VDT. This component has not been tested extensively by the VDT team members, but the package was able to build cleanly. It should be noted that the VDT only installs Tcl and not Tk. This was due to the difficulties in providing X-Windows binaries and libraries needed by Tk. The VDT provides Tcl because it was decided that we did not want to depend on a recent installation of Tcl (the VDT currently installs Tcl 8.4.14). This might be changed in the future to detect whether the system version of Tcl could be used.
