VDT 1.6.1a was released on Friday February 16th, 2007. The update process has proved to be not as smooth as the VDT had wanted.
The VDT team is also currently working on the next stable series update, release 1.6.1b. The amount of changes in this release will be much smaller than in 1.6.1a. The most important change will a fix for the PBS driver. Alain Roy commented that he is waiting for remote access to a machine installed with PBS from Alan Sill at Texas Tech.
As a final note, the VDT team would like to announce that sites should not be using the 1.6.2 cache. This was a testing cache for the VDT 1.6.1a release and is not guaranteed to function properly if the VDT is installed from it.
The VDT team has just begun the investigation of adding VOMS-RS as an unsupported package to the 1.6.X release series. We hope that this new package will not require an upgrade of VOMS or VOMS-Admin.
The question about whether Globus was actively working upgrading their version of OpenSSL was brought up at the office hours. Alain Roy commented that the Globus team is currently in the testing phase of this new version and the community hopes to see a new version available in a couple of months.
