VDT Office Hours 17 January 2008

State of VDT

We are working on the 1.8.2 release, and a dcache upgrade for an upgrade to 1.8.1.

Upcoming VDT releases feature list

Suchandra asked if there was a feature list for the next release. Some highlights:

Adding software to the VDT

Meili asked about adding software to the VDT. If you are interested in adding software, contact Alain Roy who can help you with the process. Another option is to set up your own pacman cache, and install the software from that cache on top of the VDT installation. An example of this is the OSG ce package, which installs some OSG specific software along with the VDT OSG-CE package.

GUMS bug report

There is a bug in GUMS related to deleting DNs that were added with quotes. We are passing the information along to the GUMS developer for a future update.

AIX support

We have a built a number of components on AIX, and we are currently working on the Globus build. Alan Sill offered to help with testing on AIX.

Using a pre-existing Condor with the VDT

If you already have an installation of Condor on your system that you want to use with a VDT install, see this page for instructions. In VDT 1.8.1, the Condor-Devel package will be installed if you install the OSG-RSV package. We expect to remove the Condor-Devel package in VDT 1.8.2.
