VDT Office Hours

Please Note: Office Hours are canceled until further notice. We plan to restart them, but have not yet announced a date for them to be restarted.

What are the VDT Office Hours?

In order to better serve our users and collaborators, we hold weekly meetings that we call "office hours". These are informal meetings that provide a regular forum for people to interact with the people working on the VDT. There is no strict agenda because we want to encourage people to come and talk to us. There will be at least one VDT person at each weekly office hour, or the meeting will be cancelled.

What happens during VDT Office Hours?

Each VDT Office Hour has three segments. Each segment is optional and may not happen every week.
  1. Question of the Week Sometimes the VDT team is tackling an issue that requires input from other people to solve in the best way. We'll announce these in advance so people can attend the meeting and give their opinions. If you can't attend the meeting, you can always send us email with your opinion.
  2. Big Picture Questions If people have big picture questions about the VDT, we'll answer them in this segment. These are questions that don't delve too deeply into technical details, such as "What is the six-month timeline for the VDT?" or "Can we add software package X to the VDT?" or "Can we get support for operating system X?".
  3. Technical Questions If people want support with more technical questions, we'll address them after the big picture questions. These might be questions like, "Why did my VDT installation fail?" or "How can I configure Globus when there is a firewall?".
Notes are taken at each office hour and posted to this web page.
