VDT query tools

The VDT includes a set of tools that allows the user to perform queries of the files / packages that are installed as part of VDT. The tools are installed in $VDT_LOCATION/vdt/bin directory:

• find_modified_files - finds files that have been modified (to help with troubleshooting an installation)
• vdt-list-packages - lists the Pacman packages which have been installed as part of VDT
• vdt-list-package-files - lists the files beloging to a particular package
• vdt-which-package - lists the package(s) to which a given file belongs

find_modified_files

Usage:

• Usage: find_modified_files [DIR]
  
• finds all files in the current VDT installation which have been modified by hand (i.e. after the pacman installation(s))
• useful for finding which configuration files have been intentionally or accidentally modified (useful for troubleshooting)
• optional DIR parameter specifies a subdirectory of $VDT_LOCATION to narrow the search to
• Example:

vdt_list_packages

Usage:

• Usage: vdt-list-packages
  
• Lists all VDT packages that have been installed.
• Example:

  Licences [OK]
  ...

vdt-list-package-files

Usage:

• Usage: vdt-list-package-files PKG
  
• Lists all files/directories belonging to a specific package
• PKG specifies the Pacman package to query
• Example:

  [/opt/vdt]>> vdt/bin/vdt-list-package-files Fault-Tolerant-Shell
  /opt/vdt/ftsh
  /opt/vdt/ftsh/bin
  /opt/vdt/ftsh/bin/ftsh

vdt-which-package

Usage:

• Usage: vdt-which-package FILE
  
• Lists the package(s) that the file FILE belongs to
• Example:

  [/opt/vdt]>> vdt/bin/vdt-which-package ./globus/bin/ssh
