Note: This version of the VDT (1.5.2) is no longer supported. Feel free to look through the documentation and install it, but we cannot guarantee support for it. The current stable release is 2.0.0.

Known Problems in VDT 1.5.2

Globus Toolkit 4

This release of Globus breaks Condor-G submissions to web services GRAM. A fix is in the works and is expected in VDT 1.6.0.

There are lots of spurious SEG error messages. Again, this will be fixed in VDT 1.6.0.

Globus 4 is run in its own container, not within Tomcat. Because we already have several known services that run within Tomcat, Globus 4 is running on a non-standard port: 9443 instead of 8443. If you wish to change this, just edit the globus-ws init script. Also note that we have a workaround for this problem.

VOMS

VOMS Admin 1.2.15-0 contains a known bug for which we install a workaround. However, the workaround disables the automatic request clean-up feature. We hope to release a new version of the VDT with a new, fixed version of VOMS Admin before any automatic clean-ups would occur, so we don’t expect this to cause problems.

gLite CE Monitor

The gLite client tools are not supported on many platforms.

Also, CEMon expects to find a LCG Generic Information Provider script at /opt/glite/etc/glite-ce-ce-plugin/glite-ce-info, as documented in the CEMon instructions. If you install the VDT in any location other than /opt, and you want to use CEMon and the LCG GIP, you will still have to create the glite-ce-info symlink at the above location.

MDS

Globus does not support MDS on 64 bit platforms. Our 32 bit server build works on x86-64 machines, but the client only works when authentication is disabled (-x flag). Clients from 32 bit machines can authenticate to a 64 bit server without problems.

SRM V1 Client

We have a new version of SRM Client. It requires JDK 1.5, but we didn't know about that when we got the update, so it still uses JDK 1.4, and this causes failures. We hope to rectify this in VDT 1.6.0.
