Highlights of changes since 1.8.0
-
Mac OS X is now supported. We have limited support for now, but most client
tools should install and run correctly. More
details…
-
We have combed through the places in which the VDT sets up log rotation and
ensured that all files that need our assistance in being rotated are in fact
being rotated. Do let us know if you see any ommissions. (VDT ticket 2866)
-
Lots of bug fixes, see below for details.
New Software Since 1.8.0
-
Verify-GIP-For-CEMon: A Java script to validate the output of the Generic
Information Provider for use with CEMon (VDT ticket 2907)
Upgraded Software Since 1.8.0
Bug Fixes Since 1.8.0
-
Fixed a serious bug that could prevent the Condor grid monitor from working
(VDT ticket 2922)
-
Substantially improved the handling of pacman updates to VDT components that
install web applications (e.g., GUMS, VOMS, VOMRS) (VDT tickets 2938, 2960)
-
The VOMRS installation no longer fails when installing as non-root, though
you still need to be root to configure it (VDT ticket 2902)
-
The program that updates CA certificates automatically (vdt-update-certs)
had a bunch of under-the-hood improvements (VDT tickets 2851, 2874, 2900)
-
Fixed a problem with edg-mkgridmap. If this script is enabled, it checks to
make sure that PRIMA is not in use. If PRIMA is in use, it will not create a
grid-mapfile. However, this check failed on 64-bit platforms (VDT ticket 2940)
-
Updated Generic Information Provider that probes GUMs to correctly check if
PRIMA is in use. (Courtesy Will Law)
-
Updated Generic Information Provider for the Classic SE to correctly report
storage space in gigabytes. (Courtesy Will Law)
-
Enhancements and bug fixes for OSG-RSV framework and scripts.
- Condor-Devel configured incorrectly (VDT ticket 2943)
- Condor could not execute perl scripts on some machines due to environment setup (VDT ticket 2942)
- Improved HTML output for probe status (VDT ticket 2920)
- OSG-RSV / Gratia logging and permissions problems (VDT ticket 2957)
- Running vdt-control --on multiple times no longer starts multiple sets of Condor jobs (VDT ticket 2920)
-
Fixed CA-Certificates to preserve CRL files during new installations when
OLD_VDT_LOCATION is set and during pacman updates (VDT ticket 2935)
-
Gratia configuration improvements
- Added a fix to preserve Gratia configuration across updates (VDT ticket 2865)
- Automatically setting pbsAcctLogDir and lsfAcctLogGir for Gratia probes when possible (VDT ticket 2941)
-
Removed VDS tests from the OSG-Site-Verify script (VDT ticket 2931)
-
Improved the usability of configure_voms by rewriting error messages to be
more helpful and by making the usage (--help) information available even
when the rest of the script cannot run (VDT ticket 2884)
-
Fixed a bug when removing a VO from VOMS (VDT ticket 2890)
-
Made the configuration of MySQL more robust in the face of unusual host
settings (VDT ticket 2906)
New Platform Support
Platforms Dropped from Support
- Fedora Core 3 (VDT ticket 2801)
- AIX 5.2 (never fully supported, needs more work, will be resurrected as AIX 5.3 support in the near future)
Other Changes since 1.8.0
-
We rebuilt Globus with four new patches. See our
See our list of patches. The new ones are:
- 100__globus_i_gsi_gss_utils.diff
- 101__job_manager_state.diff
- 102__gss_unwrap.diff
- 103__gatekeeper_act.diff
-
Gabriele Garzoglio provided an update to the Generic Information Provider
probe for GUMS so that it uses an HTTP service certificate instead of an
LDAP service certificate. It also works correctly when GUMS is not in
use. If the probes are installed, this probe will now run by
default. (VDT ticket 2919)
-
In the past, we had regular requests for support when the PyGlobus
installation failed. We have made it more resistant to
failure. (VDT ticket 2876)
