===== Globus =====
When Globus is running, it periodically sends usage statistics to the
Globus developers. 

This information is useful for an open-source project like Globus that
seeks funding from external groups such as the US Government because
it provides statistics that help argue that Globus is widely deployed
and used and should therefore continue to receive funding. We
encourage you to allow the collection of these statistics. 

If you feel uncomfortable with this information being shared, you
should take two steps:

* To disable transmission of usage statistics globally for all Java
  components, comment out or remove all of the values for the
  usageStatisticsTargets parameter defined in the  
  <globalConfiguration> section of the
  $GLOBUS_LOCATION/etc/globus_wsrf_core/server-config.wsdd file. 

* To disable transmission of usage statistics globally for all C
  components, set "GLOBUS_USAGE_OPTOUT=1" in your environment.
